Dioctyl Phthalate (DOP)

Dioctyl Phthalate (DOP) is the most widely used and cost-effective plasticizer for PVC worldwide. It appears as an oily, colorless, or slightly yellowish liquid. DOP is used to impart flexibility, elasticity, and softness to rigid polyvinyl chloride. It is extensively utilized in the production of cable insulation, artificial leather, footwear compounds, garden hoses, tarpaulins, and packaging films. DOP offers a high gelling speed and excellent compatibility with PVC resin, simplifying the processing workflow. Despite the emergence of eco-friendly alternatives, DOP remains the industry standard for technical and industrial applications due to its optimal price-performance ratio. It is also used in the rubber industry and in the production of paints and coatings.
